Why do Filipinoes like slow-ass sites?!
2008 June 19
Multiply sucks.
Not only does it not import WordPress, (who the hell doesn’t import WordPress?!) its also slow as hell. I think Friendster has a new competitor in the idiotically slow Filipino social networking market.
I’ve already created two social networking sites of my own – and not one of ‘em sucks as bad. Hell, I could make a completely new one before this site even finishes importing THIS LINK. So I’m writing this on my blog right now while waiting for the site to work – I guess multitasking helps.

Most of the people who uses friendster don’t import anything WordPress to their website, because most of them are young people! They just choose to create accounts on social network sites that are popular and many other people use, like friendster and multiply. Geez, a lot of people(that I know) from the industrialized countries use multiply. So don’t make hasty generalization that since Filipino likes ’slow-ass sites’ they are also slow in the social networking market. There are a lot more factors that affect our social net. market (like the technology and level of education available, money, government, etc.) although I cannot contradict on the fact that our behavior and way of thinking also affect the social market.
Its sad that its because we follow the sites that most people are on we become victims of weak sites like Friendster and Multiply. Let’s face it, Friendster is glued together by rice and spit. Multiply is no better. Yet these two are the most popular social networks in the Philippines.
People need to realize that there are better alternatives, and start using them – and not just join the sites with the most friends. Because that just takes technology and moves it backward.
